The classic obedience experiment that Milgram (1963) conducted in the 1960s continues to be relevant even today. A French documentary that took on the form of a fake game show tested the effect of TV authority on the obedience rate of unknowing subjects. The results? A staggering 82% were willing to administer what they were led to believe were deadly shocks to the other “contestant” (in reality an actor).
